Job Summary
The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the safety, maintenance, cleanliness, compliance, and operational readiness of the company’s transportation fleet. This position ensures all vehicles remain properly maintained, compliant, and ready for daily transportation services while also assisting with transportation coverage by backing up drivers and transporting clients as needed.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee the overall condition, safety, and operational readiness of all company vehicles.
· Coordinate preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, cleaning, and emergency vehicle servicing.
· Ensure fleet vehicles remain compliant with local, state, federal, and ADA transportation requirements.
· Maintain accurate records for vehicle maintenance, inspections, registrations, insurance, mileage, fuel usage, and compliance documentation.
· Monitor vehicle usage, fuel activity, GPS tracking, and overall fleet accountability.
· Conduct routine vehicle inspections to identify damages, safety concerns, or maintenance needs and ensure timely resolution.
· Assist with enforcing company vehicle policies, safety procedures, and accident reporting expectations.
· Communicate with drivers and leadership regarding vehicle issues, maintenance scheduling, and operational concerns.
· Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns, transportation emergencies, and other fleet-related issues.
· Provide transportation support by picking up and transporting clients as needed or instructed.
· Serve as backup driver coverage to help ensure uninterrupted transportation services.
· Prepare reports related to vehicle performance, maintenance activity, fuel usage, and operational improvements.
· Maintain professionalism, safety, and customer service standards while representing the company.
Qualifications
· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
· Previous transportation, fleet, maintenance, or operational experience preferred.
· Ability to safely operate company vehicles and assist with transportation coverage when needed.
· Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to handle transportation or vehicle-related emergencies in a calm and professional manner.
· Basic computer and documentation skills preferred.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
· Ability to enter and exit company vehicles frequently throughout the day.
· Ability to assist clients if necessary during transportation activities.
· Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Schedule Expectations
· Flexibility may be required based on transportation demands and operational needs.
· Must be available to assist with emergency transportation coverage when necessary.
· Occasional schedule adjustments may be required due to vehicle or transportation emergencies.
