The primary purpose of this position The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles to facilitate safe mobility and access to opportunities that enhance the lives of the people who live, visit and conduct business in North Carolina.
This position is located within Vehicle Services in the Huntersville Express Vehicle Registration Unit.
The primary purpose of the position is to manage, plan, observe, coordinate staffing, and direct and plan daily operations of the Huntersville Express Vehicle Registration Unit. This position must provide leadership to all employees in the unit to foster teamwork and create a customer-friendly, enthusiastic workforce. This person is required to handle all personnel matters with the staff managed. This position ensures employees are assisting customers in accordance with North Carolina General Statutes, Federal Regulations as well as the various policies and procedures required by NCDMV. This position utilizes various technical and administrative skills to complete daily tasks. Work is procedurally complex and requires considerable judgment in problem solving and expertise in a specialized area of vehicle title and registration.
This position monitors the customer service windows and staff to ensure that all customers are being assisted most efficiently. This position is responsible for securing the state’s revenue and inventory. This position is responsible for the daily deposit of state funds, and ensures compliance with all money handling laws, policies and procedures. This position reports to the Program Supervisor II position.
This position coordinates training and schedules for Huntersville Express Vehicle Registration Unit employees based on daily activity to prevent vacancies and a dip in the quality of customer service. This position notifies employees of new policies, procedures, and legislation that impact the unit.
This position is responsible for reporting building maintenance issues to the private management company to ensure the working environment and public environment are safe, healthy and comfortable for all customers and employees.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC14 $52,592 - $92,036
Management prefers applicants with the following:
- Knowledge of the vehicle registration laws and their application.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and manage the work of a moderate to a large staff of technical employees.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply vehicle registration laws, registration laws, regulations, departmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with a diverse clientele and resolve vehicle registration problems through the use of a variety of references and resources as it relates to laws, rules, and regulations, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
