American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a float pool position at an academic medical center requiring advanced ECMO and mechanical circulatory support experience.

Float pool position within ICU, with floating required to all TCUs, ICUs, ED and PACU
-
Cardiovascular/cardiothoracic ICU patient population including ECMO, transplant, and mechanical circulatory support cases
-
12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)

Schedule cycles run 4 weeks and may switch between day and night shift depending on need

1:2 patient ratio

Epic charting system preferred
-
Floating may include reassignment to other UCSF facilities within a 75+ mile radius

Active CA RN license required
-
BSN required
-
AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required

NIHSS certification preferred
-
Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience required

CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience required
-
ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year required, including bedside RN management of ECMO patients without dedicated perfusion support
-
Prior travel nursing experience required, with a completed travel assignment within the past 12 months and no more than 1 year of travel experience in the past 5 years

Teaching hospital/academic medical center experience required

Trauma Level II experience required

Ability to independently manage complex critical care patients

Strong interpersonal communication skills
-
VA ECMO, VV ECMO, V-PA ECMO, CRRT (NxStage), IABP (Teleflex), Impella, and ventricular assist device experience strongly preferred
-
Experience with heart failure/cardiogenic shock, pulmonary artery catheters, and cardiothoracic/heart/lung transplant recovery strongly preferred

Experience simultaneously managing multiple support devices (e.g., ECMO + CRRT, ECMO + Impella, ECMO + IABP) highly desirable

Two references from most recent employer required for consideration

Care for critically ill ICU patients requiring advanced cardiovascular and multi-organ support therapies

Candidates evaluated on ability to function within UCSF's integrated critical care (ICC) model, not solely on ECMO experience
-
Broader competency in cardiovascular critical care, transplant, mechanical circulatory support, and multi-organ support therapies is valued
-
All requested RTO must be disclosed at time of offer and approved by the manager, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract

RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment

Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers

Any prior employment with a University of California medical facility or its acquired facilities must be disclosed, including dates worked, units, and manager names for a rehire eligibility check

Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit, and married couples may not work together on the same unit
