People & Culture Manager

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and people-focused People & Culture Manager to join our hotel team. This position is responsible for overseeing the employee experience from recruitment and onboarding through development, performance management, payroll, employee relations, and retention.
The ideal candidate is approachable, organized, solutions-oriented, and passionate about creating a positive hotel culture where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to provide exceptional guest service.
What You'll Do
- Lead recruitment and hiring for all hotel departments, including creating job descriptions, sourcing candidates, coordinating interviews, conducting assessments, and making hiring recommendations.
- Partner with department managers to identify staffing needs and attract and retain top hospitality talent.
- Manage employee relations, including employee concerns, conflicts, grievances, coaching, and disciplinary matters.
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers while promoting open communication, teamwork, fairness, and respect.
- Develop and coordinate new-hire orientation, onboarding, training, and professional development programs.
- Coach and mentor employees and managers to support career growth and leadership development.
- Manage the hotel’s performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews, coaching, feedback, and performance improvement plans.
- Identify high-performing employees and support recognition, advancement, and succession planning.
- Maintain and communicate HR policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with applicable employment laws and company standards.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, wage and hour requirements, workplace policies, health and safety standards, and other applicable regulations.
- Complete weekly payroll for all hotel employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Oversee compensation and benefits administration and assist employees with payroll and benefits questions.
- Monitor staffing levels, turnover, attendance, and other workforce metrics.
- Prepare HR reports and use HR data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Plan and coordinate employee celebrations, recognition programs, team gatherings, and other engagement activities.
- Develop initiatives that improve employee morale, engagement, retention, and overall workplace culture.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and documentation.
- Partner with hotel leadership to develop workforce plans and succession strategies.
- Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and service-focused culture throughout the hotel.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of progressive Human Resources or People & Culture experience; hotel or hospitality experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training, and HR compliance.
- Experience processing or overseeing weekly payroll.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices and employment regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving abilities.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee matters professionally.
- Strong coaching and leadership skills.
- Experience working with HRIS, payroll, scheduling, and other HR systems.
- Ability to work effectively with employees and leaders at all levels.
