LUMIERE HEALING CENTERS IS LOOKING FOR A COOK.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Cook is responsible for preparing, seasoning and cooking food for patients and employees and for oversee the kitchen. He/she will provide services to patients whose ages range from adult to geriatric. Maintain dietary requirements for special needs clients.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent; Chef Certification or Safe Serv preferred.
EXPERIENCE: At least two (2) years’ experience required composed of evidence of experience in above noted areas of practice, to include experience in the area of sanitation, hygiene, food preparation.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION
1. Assist in the development of menus.
2. Assures that the facility’s patient care policies and procedures and including those related to the environment of care, which relate to dietary services are implemented.
3. Requisition food, supplies and equipment.
4. Purchase food and supplies from vendors approved by the company and monitor inventory
5. Ensure that the kitchen and surrounding areas are sanitized and clean in accordance with company standards and health code regulations
6. Stay current on restaurant industry trends
7. Identify new culinary techniques and presentations
8. Strong knowledge of local, state and federal food sanitation regulations
9. Must possess culinary creativity
10. Inspect and taste food for quality.
11. Order the quantities of food needed to meet menu requirements.
12. Inspect and supervise serving of food. Performs related duties.
13. Assure preparation and handling of food in accordance with sanitary regulations and with national and local standards, acting within administrative policies and within budgetary requirements.
14. Assure preparation of sufficient quantities of food in time to meet meal schedules.
15. Assure storage of perishables and avoidance of food spoilage and waste.
16. Assure palatability and appetizing appearance of meals.
17. Assure care of kitchen equipment.
18. Prepare and cook food, and clean up of food services and dining room area.
19. Cooperate with dietary personnel and with other departments.
20. Willingness to work for the best interests of the facility.

22. Demonstrate initiative and sound judgement involved in planning menus, in consultation with Dietician, utilization of left-overs, ordering of food to meet menu requirements and preparation of attractive, nutritious, and palatable meals.
23. Take responsibility for own professional growth and development.
24. Perform other duties as assigned.
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
