Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately while adhering to pharmaceutical regulations and hospital policies
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapy and monitor responses
- Prepare and compound IV infusions using aseptic techniques, ensuring safety and sterility standards are met
- Collaborate with healthcare providers on medication selection, dosing, and administration strategies for complex cases such as oncology, pediatrics, ICU, and trauma patients
- Maintain detailed documentation within Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems and pharmacy information systems (PIS)
- Provide clinical pharmacy services including acute pain management, pharmacotherapeutics consultations, and medication reconciliation
- Precept pharmacy residents and students to foster professional growth and uphold high standards of practice
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of pharmacology, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to hospital medicine
- Proven experience in managed care settings, hospital pharmacy operations, and critical care environments such as Level I Trauma Centers and Level II Trauma Centers
- Strong background in pharmacy residency programs or post-residency practice with clinical pharmacy experience in acute care settings
- Expertise in IV compounding, aseptic technique, drug regulation compliance, and pharmaceutical regulatory standards
- Skilled in patient service delivery including medication administration oversight, patient assessment, and pain management strategies
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR platforms and Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS) for efficient workflow management
- Ability to practice as a pharmacist with a focus on patient care, including emergency room experience and ICU practice skills
