**This is a 2nd shift position that will train on 1st shift for the next several months.**
Job Summary
This is not your typical assembly job. As an Assembly Technician, you'll own each sales order from start to finish — pulling parts from the warehouse, building industrial strainers and valves, coordinating special features with our support shops, and packaging the finished product for shipment. You'll act as the go-to person for your orders, working with multiple departments to make sure every unit ships complete, correct, and on time.
If you like variety, take pride in seeing a job through from first part to final crate, and want more responsibility than a standard assembly line role offers, this position is for you.
Responsibilities
- Material Handling — Pull and stage parts from the warehouse for each sales order, verifying components against the order and bill of materials.
- Assembly — Assemble and disassemble industrial strainers and valves to specification, ensuring proper fit, function, and quality at every step.
- Coordination — Work with the Tool Room when orders call for special features such as lifting davits for covers.
- Coordination — Coordinate with outside fabrication shops when custom fabricated features are required.
- Coordination — Partner with our Straining Elements (SE) Department when orders require special straining elements.
- Shipping — Package completed orders for shipment, protecting the product and including all required components and documentation.
- Ownership — Track your orders from parts retrieval through final packaging — you own the outcome, like a mini project manager for every order you touch.
Skills
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn — we will train the right person. Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Experience assembling mechanical or industrial products (valves, pumps, strainers, or similar) is a plus.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and bills of materials — or the aptitude to learn.
- Forklift experience or certification, and comfort with material handling equipment, is a plus.
- Strong communication skills — you'll coordinate with several departments and outside shops to keep orders moving.
- Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple orders at once.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a shop environment.
This position is eligible for shift differential.
