Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new ideas and ensuring consistency in food presentation
- Maintain high standards of food safety, handling, and sanitation throughout all stages of food production
- Ensure all food is cooked properly, using appropriate knife skills and slicing techniques for optimal quality
- Support food service operations by plating dishes efficiently and accurately for timely delivery
- Follow safety standards in production areas, including proper storage, labeling, and temperature control
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and uphold cleanliness and organization
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a dietary aide within the food industry or restaurant setting
- Strong knowledge of safety standards in production, food handling, and food safety management practices
- Skilled in culinary techniques such as slicing, chopping, and meal preparation with excellent knife skills
- Familiarity with menu planning, catering, and serving processes to support diverse dining needs
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards
- Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive attitude toward supporting kitchen operations
- Knowledge of dietary department procedures and experience working within dietary or healthcare settings is a plus
