A successful import dealership in the Baltimore market is seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to join its leadership team.
This is a unique opportunity for a Controller, Assistant Controller, Office Manager, or senior dealership accounting professional to move beyond day-to-day accounting and play a strategic role in dealership performance. With centralized accounting support handling much of the transactional work, you'll focus on financial leadership, operational partnership, controls, analysis, and profitability.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
As Controller, you will serve as the dealership's financial leader and trusted business partner to the General Manager and department leaders.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements
- Monitoring dealership profitability and key performance indicators
- Providing financial guidance to dealership leadership
- Overseeing month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensuring compliance with manufacturer requirements and accounting standards
- Maintaining strong internal controls and safeguarding dealership assets
- Supervising dealership accounting support personnel, including the Title Clerk
- Serving as the primary liaison between dealership operations and the centralized accounting team
- Managing cash flow, floorplan activity, and banking relationships
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives
- Identifying opportunities to improve profitability and operational performance

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of automotive dealership accounting experience
- Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Office Manager, or senior dealership accounting leadership experience
- Strong understanding of dealership financial statements and manufacturer reporting requirements
- Experience with CDK or other dealership management systems
- Experience supervising accounting or administrative personnel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Import franchise dealership experience
- Multi-store or centralized accounting experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
