Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting vital signs, updating medical histories, and preparing patients for examinations.
- Support clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS) protocols.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of medical encounters, diagnoses (ICD coding), and treatment plans.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, scheduling appointments, and guiding patients through their visit processes.
- Maintain medical records with meticulous attention to detail, including documentation of medical history, treatment notes, and procedural reports.
- Support hospital medicine or outpatient clinics by coordinating care activities, managing patient flow, and assisting with inpatient or trauma center procedures if applicable.
- Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, managing appointment schedules, processing insurance forms, and handling correspondence to streamline clinic operations.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations by adhering to safety protocols, managing medication inventories, and supporting infection control measures.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office setting with proficiency in medical administrative support and clinical assisting roles.
- Hands-on knowledge of dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to operate EMR/EHR systems efficiently while maintaining accurate medical documentation.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus.
- Experience with ICD coding, anatomy knowledge, physiology fundamentals, and pharmacology enhances your effectiveness in this role.
- Inpatient or outpatient experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers adds valuable insight into acute care settings.
- Familiarity with hospital experience including OR procedures or geriatrics is advantageous for diverse patient populations.
