Job Title: Fuel Handler
Reports to: Operations Manager
Location: Cadillac, MI Plant
Job Responsibilities:
The Fuel Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient management of the fuel supply of a biomass plant, power plant auxiliary equipment and fuel handling equipment. Specific responsibilities and duties include:
- Maintains fuel in the storage area, including the receipt, handling and storage of fuel in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensures fuel samples are taken.
- Performs preventative maintenance on the fuel handling system and storage area.
- Operates heavy equipment.
- Performs routine maintenance on mobile equipment including greasing, filter changes, etc.
- Ensure a consistent fuel supply to plant from conveyor system
- Increases knowledge Heat Recovery Steam Generators, steam turbine, electrical generators, air compressors, motors, pumps, compressors, electrical switchgear, loaders, ash and fuel handling systems dozer and small utility equipment used to generate power.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Requirements:
- 2-4 years’ experience operating heavy equipment
- Valid state driver’s license
- Ability to read and interpret documentation such as technical manuals, operating and maintenance manuals, and operations procedures.
- Ability to write routine correspondence and reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and contractors.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to hear and use close range radios
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms above shoulder level and at shoulder level
- ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time
- Able to grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools and machine parts
- Strong field of vision including visual depth perception and ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to climb ladders up to 75' high and stairs to perform assigned tasks.
- Ability to raise or lower objects from one level to another regularly during the shift
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights of over 100’
- Ability to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
- Position requires pre-employment testing, including background check, drug testing, and physical.
