Job Description
ER Registered Veterinary Technicians play a critical role in delivering emergency and intensive patient care in a high-volume veterinary setting. You will work closely with veterinarians and support staff to provide urgent diagnostics, treatment, anesthesia support, and ongoing patient monitoring, while also ensuring compassionate communication with pet owners during stressful situations.
Responsibilities

Perform treatments on hospitalized and emergency patients, including medication administration via multiple routes

Obtain and monitor vital signs including blood pressure, ECG, temperature, and oxygenation
-
Manage IV fluid therapy, including CRIs and multi-line setups
-
Perform phlebotomy and basic hematology interpretation
-
Place and maintain intravenous catheters
-
Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
-
Provide transfusion therapy including blood typing and crossmatching
-
Perform CPCR in emergency situations
-
Apply bandages, splints, and wound care management
-
Manage feeding tubes and hospitalized patient care
-
Conduct accurate medical recordkeeping and client communication updates
-
Perform patient intake, discharge, and billing support (EzyVet/SmartFlow experience a plus)

Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment areas
Qualifications
-
Minimum 2 years’ experience in veterinary surgery, anesthesia, or emergency care
-
CVT, LVT, RVT, or VTS preferred (pRVT considered)
-
Experience in a fast-paced emergency or multi-doctor hospital required

Strong understanding of anesthesia monitoring and patient stability parameters
-
Ability to calculate and administer medications, fluids, and CRIs accurately
-
Experience with venipuncture, catheter placement, and patient restraint
-
Knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical assistance
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Ability to remain composed and effective in high-pressure situations
-
Fluent English (spoken and written required)
