Position Summary:
The Brewpub Support Staff play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our space, contributing directly to a positive guest experience. Prospective candidates will support our bartenders by maintaining a clean and organized bar area, clearing tables, restocking supplies, and assisting with various tasks to keep the operations running flawlessly.
Candidates will also work alongside the Back of House team members to coordinate food running / delivery to guests in the brewpub & beer garden.
The ideal candidate is energetic, a team player, possesses a strong work ethic, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Brewery Production & Maintenance:
- Work directly with our head brewer on the production & canning of beer at our brewery location at 43 Homestead Avenue.
- Assist in weekly deliveries of kegs and canned beer from the brewery to our brewpub location.
- Bi-weekly beer line cleaning at our brewpub location.
- Food Expediting:
- Retrieve prepared food orders from the kitchen / food truck promptly and efficiently.
- Verify the accuracy of each order against the kitchen display system (KDS), ensuring all components (sides, sauces, garnishes) are present and correct.
- Deliver food items to the correct tables and guests in a timely and organized manner, ensuring dishes arrive hot and fresh.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with guests when delivering food, identifying dishes and answering basic questions about ingredients or preparation if necessary.
- Guest Interaction & Service:
- Maintain a polite, professional, and friendly demeanor while interacting with guests.
- Anticipate guest needs, such as offering additional condiments, utensils, and / or plateware before being asked.
- Assist guests with any minor requests related to their food (e.g., retrieving a forgotten utensil, extra napkins).
- Observe guest reactions to food and discreetly report any immediate concerns or issues to the server or manager.
- Table and Bar Area Maintenance:
- Promptly clear dirty glasses, plates, and trash from tables and bar tops.
- Wipe down and sanitize tables, chairs, and bar surfaces regularly.
- Reset tables with appropriate items as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of floors around the bar and seating areas, including sweeping up spills and debris.
- Glassware and Dishware Management:
- Collect and transport used glassware and dishes to appropriate areas, and assist
- Assist with washing and sanitizing glassware / dishware as needed.
- Restock clean glassware in designated locations, ensuring all sizes and types are readily available for bartenders.
- Stocking and Organization:
- Replenish ice bins throughout the shift.
- Restock napkins, coasters, straw caddies, and other bar essentials.
- Ensure adequate supply of clean rags and sanitizing solution at all times.
- Assist with stocking beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages as directed.
- Maintain an organized back-bar and storage area.
- Check in orders from suppliers, and put away as necessary.
- Facility Upkeep:
- Assist with general cleaning tasks, including restroom checks and maintenance.
- Empty trash cans and recycling bins regularly.
- Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned, including setting up and breaking down the beer garden, taproom, and / or events.
- Team Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with bartenders, managers, and other staff members.
- Anticipate the needs of bartenders and proactively offer assistance.
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Maintain constant and clear communication with kitchen staff regarding readiness of orders and any potential delays.
- Communicate effectively with servers, bussers, and other front-of-house staff, mainly the MOD to ensure seamless service flow.
- Relay specific guest requests or dietary restrictions from servers to the kitchen, if necessary, and ensure the correct dishes are prepared and delivered accordingly.
- Assist servers and bussers with pre-bussing tables and maintaining overall dining room cleanliness during slower periods or as needed.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a restaurant, bar, or hospitality setting is preferred but not required.
- State-issued drivers license required.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong work ethic, reliable, and punctual.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs), and carry heavy trays for extended periods.
- Positive attitude and a team-oriented approach.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often on concrete floors.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and twist.
- Manual dexterity to handle glassware and other items safely.
Expected Shifts:
We are looking to fill a part-time position. Shifts may vary depending on the day, but shifts will include but are not limited to:
Weekdays: 9AM-3PM , 3PM/5PM-11PM
Weekends: 12PM-9PM, 3PM/5PM-11PM
