Job Summary: The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for our 3-Axis SCM x200 machine using AlphaCAM, Mozaik, and VCarve software. This role plays a critical part in translating engineering designs into efficient and accurate machine code, ensuring precision, quality, and on-time delivery of manufactured components.
Key Responsibilities:
● Program Development:
○ Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models (2D and 3D), and specifications to determine machining requirements.
○ Develop and write efficient CNC programs using AlphaCAM, Mozaik, and VCarve software for various CNC machines.
○ Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies based on material, part geometry, and machine capabilities.
○ Optimize existing programs for improved efficiency, reduced cycle times, and enhanced surface finish.
● Software Expertise:
○ Demonstrate expert proficiency in AlphaCAM, Vcarve, and Mozaik for complex toolpath generation, material nesting, and advanced programming features.
● Simulation & Verification:
○ Conduct virtual machining simulations to detect potential errors, collisions, or inefficiencies before machine setup.
○ Adjust and refine programs based on simulation results and feedback from machinists.
● Collaboration & Support:
○ Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and machinists to ensure the manufacturability of designs and resolve any programming-related issues.
○ Generate clear and comprehensive setup sheets, tooling lists, and instructions for machine operators.
○ Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to machinists during machine setup and operation.
● Process Improvement:
○ Continuously evaluate and improve machining processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize rework.
○ Research and recommend new tooling, cutting strategies, and software features to optimize performance.
○ Participate in root cause analysis for any production issues related to CNC programming.
● Quality & Safety:
○ Ensure all programs adhere to quality standards, tight tolerances, and safety protocols.
○ Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
● High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training, certification, or Associate's degree in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field is highly preferred.
● Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a CNC Programmer in a manufacturing environment.
● Proficiency in AlphaCAM, Mozaik, and VCarve software is essential.
● Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, tooling selection, and cutting strategies for wood based products.
● Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D CAD models.
● Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming.
● Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex program-related issues.
● High attention to detail and accuracy in program development.
● Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
● Effective communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements:
● Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
● Ability to lift up to 25-50 pounds occasionally.
● Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for computer work and handling small parts.
