Position Overview
The Insights Analyst – CVS supports the CVS business by delivering accurate reporting, integrated insights, and structured data-driven storytelling that elevate sales strategy, category planning, and retailer conversations.
This role blends sales analytics and category insight responsibilities, translating data from multiple sources into clear performance narratives and actionable recommendations. The Analyst serves as a dedicated analytical partner for CVS, ensuring a consistent reporting cadence, relevant insights, and output delivered with precision and urgency.
In addition to owning reporting execution, this role plays a key part in strengthening process discipline, improving template consistency, and ensuring effective use of CVS CMG data, syndicated data, customer data, retailer POS, and other available sources. The Analyst is expected to document processes clearly, maintain high-quality standards, and identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency.
Success in this role requires strong analytical rigor, commercial awareness, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to consistently translate data into concise, sales-ready insights that strengthen trust within the CVS ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Performance
Analytics & Sales Support

Serve as a key analyst for executing CVS reporting, managing weekly and monthly POS, item trackers, share updates, distribution reporting, and promotional scorecards.

Develop fluency in CVS customer data, retailer portals, and relevant syndicated data sources.

Leverage CVS CMG data, syndicated data, customer data, retailer POS, and other available sources to identify performance trends, risks, and opportunities.

Build clear, well-structured PowerPoint slides that clearly articulate key findings, the “so what,” and relevant business implications across multiple sources.

Support retailer-facing materials and conversations, including line reviews, JBPs, innovation launches, and strategic planning discussions with fact-based insights and category opportunities.

Conduct category, brand, competitive, shopper, and 4P analysis (price, promotion, assortment, placement) to support sales planning and customer discussions.

Identify fair share gaps, competitive activity, shopper leakage, and whitespace opportunities.

Respond to recurring and ad hoc requests with accurate, fact-based analysis delivered on time.

Apply established MPG storytelling standards to create concise, retailer-ready materials for internal and external audiences.

Move beyond reporting by developing structured observations, business implications, hypotheses, and recommended next steps.
CVS CMG Utilization & Data Integration

Utilize CVS CMG data and tools to support item, category, shopper, and promotional performance analysis.

Integrate CVS CMG outputs with syndicated data, customer data, retailer POS, and other relevant sources to create a cohesive view of performance.

Identify opportunities to better leverage available CVS CMG reporting capabilities and customer data to answer business questions and strengthen retailer recommendations.
Process Consistency & Reporting Improvement

Build, maintain, and improve standardized templates and Excel dashboards that integrate multiple data sources.

Leverage available technology, including Power BI, business intelligence dashboards, and approved AI tools where applicable, to enhance reporting clarity, efficiency, and repeatability.

Ensure KPI definitions, data logic, and tracking methodologies are consistent across deliverables.

Document recurring work and identify workflow improvements that reduce manual effort and strengthen reporting discipline.
Quality Control & Execution

Complete accurate data pulls, reporting, summaries, and quality assurance checks in alignment with established timelines and standards.

Review outputs for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established templates, definitions, and business rules.

Proactively investigate discrepancies, surface issues with potential solutions, and escalate appropriately when needed.
Collaboration & Accountability

Partner with the CVS sales team and broader MPG network to understand analytical needs and deliver fact-based solutions.

Take accountability for recurring deliverables, manage priorities proactively, and communicate progress, risks, and timing clearly.

Build credibility with CVS, clients, and MPG partners through accurate, timely analysis and clear category and shopper implications.

Begin presenting project updates and analysis findings on client and retailer calls, with coaching and support as appropriate.
Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
-
1-3+ years of experience in Sales Analytics, Category Management, Shopper Insights, or CPG analytics supporting national retailers.

Hands-on experience working with syndicated data, customer data, retailer POS, and retailer-specific portals or reporting tools is required. Experience with CVS CMG data is strongly preferred.

Experience supporting category, brand, shopper, promotional, or competitive analyses preferred.

Experience preparing client- or retailer-facing materials and presenting analytical findings preferred.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Power BI, business intelligence tools, or approved AI tools is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines proactively, and operate effectively in a fast-paced sales environment.

Compensation
The expected base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $85,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses and other compensation programs.
