Duties
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards that promote literacy, creative writing, and analytical skills
- Utilize diverse instructional strategies including instructional design, technology integration, and differentiated learning approaches to meet varied student needs
- Develop assessments such as essays, projects, standardized tests, and performance tasks to evaluate student progress effectively
- Mentor students through academic advising and personalized support to foster their intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development
- Integrate biblical principles and Christian values into classroom instruction and daily interactions with students
- Incorporate research skills, library services, and journalism principles into classroom activities to enhance learning experiences
- Manage classroom behavior through effective classroom management techniques ensuring a positive learning environment
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, school initiatives, chapel activities, and extracurricular programs to enrich student engagement
- Maintain open and professional communication with parents, staff, and administration regarding student progress and classroom expectations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Proven classroom experience teaching high school English or related subjects with a strong record of student achievement
- Expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional design tailored for high school learners
- Familiarity with AP Style, Chicago Manual of Style, proofreading techniques, and copy editing skills
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and literacy education best practices
- Experience working with diverse learners including special education students and those in private school settings
- Strong communication skills for effective instruction, mentoring, and collaboration with staff and parents
- Organizational skills to manage multiple classes, assessments, and administrative responsibilities efficiently
