Maintenance Mechanic – Water/Wastewater Treatment
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery, and equipment at water/wastewater treatment facilities. You'll troubleshoot mechanical issues, maintain pumps and engines, and support plant operations through hands-on repair and installation work.
Pay: $32.00- $35.00 per hour DOE
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery, and equipment
- Lubricate equipment and check for malfunctions; replace packing in pumps/valves and bearings in motors/pumps
- Tune engines, set valve clearance, clean and adjust regulators
- Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and prevent recurrence
- Install and set up new equipment
- Clean pipes and perform plumbing/pipe fitting tasks as required
- Use gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld
- Assist in maintaining maintenance records
- Communicate effectively regarding recommended maintenance and repair procedures
- Follow written and oral instructions
- Perform other duties as required
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of experience in maintenance and repair
- Valid driver's license
Preferred:
- Some trade school education with emphasis on electrical/mechanical equipment and metal fabrication
- Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in construction, repair, and operation of engines, pumps, and mechanical equipment related to water/wastewater treatment
- Knowledge of internal combustion engines, electrical pump motors, and safe work practices
- Ability to enter data into a computer maintenance management system
