Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will manage the day-to-day financial record-keeping processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance across various accounting functions. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of our financial data, support reporting efforts, and contribute to the overall financial health of our organization. This role ensures accurate recording of financial transactions, maintenance of accounting records, reconciliation of accounts, and support for billing, payroll, and tax compliance. The Bookkeeper works closely with practice leadership, billing staff, and external accountants to ensure the financial integrity and regulatory compliance of the practice.
Responsibilities
General Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Record and maintain accurate daily financial transactions, including deposits, disbursements, and journal entries
- Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and merchant accounts monthly
- Prepare and post adjusting entries as needed
- Maintain chart of accounts specific to medical practice operations
Revenue & Billing Support
- Reconcile patient receipts, insurance payments, and ERAs to practice management and accounting systems
- Coordinate with billing staff to ensure accurate posting of payments and adjustments
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and flag discrepancies or trends
- Reconcile billing system totals to the general ledger
Accounts Payable & Expense Management
- Process vendor invoices and expense reimbursements
- Ensure proper coding of expenses by department or provider
- Prepare and process vendor payments
- Maintain vendor files and W-9 documentation
Payroll Support
- Assist with payroll processing by providing accurate hours, benefits, and reimbursement data
- Reconcile payroll reports to the general ledger
- Track payroll-related liabilities including withholdings and employer taxes
Tax & Compliance Support
- Assist with preparation of payroll and other applicable tax filings
- Maintain supporting documentation for CPA and payroll providers
- Support compliance with healthcare-related financial and internal control requirements
Reporting & Practice Support
- Prepare routine financial reports including profit & loss and cash flow summaries
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Respond to CPA, audit, and management data requests
- Maintain organized electronic financial records
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience with QuickBooks is required.
- 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a medical setting
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping and general ledger principles
- Experience reconciling bank and financial systems
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- High attention to detail and confidentiality

Pay: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour
