EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Patrols an assigned area to detect criminal activities, suspicious circumstances, traffic and ordinance violations and hazard to life or property.

Interviews complainants, witnesses and other individuals to establish a network of information to determine the validity of a complaint.

Detects violations, makes violator contacts, issues citations or warnings and places violators in custody, as appropriate.

Responds to calls for service, analyzing criminal, emergency and law violators to determine the best method of handling.

Determines sufficiency of evidence to justify a search and/or arrest.

Handles suspects, law violators and prisoners according to departmental policies and procedures and uses effective law enforcement techniques.

Conducts preliminary accident and offense investigations and writes required reports.

Conducts routine checks of prisoners confined in the City Jail.

Coordinates calls for service with fire, street and animal control personnel, as needed.

Participates in community-oriented programs.

Performs all other related duties as assigned

Basic: $64,735.72

Intermediate: $73,249.33
