Our Seafood Department is a key part of our store, offering a wide variety of fish, shellfish, and ready-to-cook seafood options. We’re looking for a dependable and customer-focused Seafood Clerk to join our team and help make every customer’s shopping experience a great one.
Position Summary:
As a Seafood Clerk, you will be responsible for preparing, displaying, and maintaining seafood products while delivering excellent service. You’ll play an important role in ensuring product freshness, cleanliness, and knowledgeable support to our customers in selecting seafood items.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers with seafood selections, cooking suggestions, and portioning
- Maintain attractive, fully stocked, and properly rotated seafood displays
- Prepare seafood items for sale, including cleaning, cutting, wrapping, weighing, and labeling
- Ensure proper storage and handling of seafood products to meet food safety guidelines
- Keep the seafood case, prep area, and equipment clean and sanitized
- Monitor product quality and remove items that no longer meet freshness standards
- Work cooperatively with other team members and departments to support overall store operations
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Prior experience in a seafood department, deli, meat counter, or food service is preferred
- Basic knowledge of seafood types and handling practices
- Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety, and detail
- Friendly, customer-oriented attitude with strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a cold environment and handle raw seafood
- Must obtain a food handlers card
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
