The Associated Students of CSU, Chico is recruiting for Marketplace Cook I, Part-time. This part-time position offers limited benefits and will work no more than 29 hours per week, 960 hours per fiscal year. The pay rate is $21.23 to $21.40/hr. The anticipated schedule for one is Monday through Friday from 12:00pm to 5:30pm. This schedule is subject to change based on departmental needs.

The Associated Students (AS) is a campus auxiliary organization serving thousands of students, faculty, staff, and community members. With an annual operating budget exceeding $21 million, the AS manages residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union, the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC), and the Wildcat Store contract. The AS also provides a wide range of student-focused programs and services, including CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education), the Child Development Lab, Adventure Outings, Sustainability initiatives, and student government. The organization employs more than 125 career staff and over 450 student employees annually.

COOK I, Part-time
MARKETPLACE
Under general supervision, to be responsible for the preparation of menu items; to oversee the serving line functions during food preparation; to perform a variety of assistance with the preparation of food; and to do related work as required.
- Prepares and cooks menu items as directed.
- Assists lead cooks as needed with preparation.
- Prepares cooking area.
- Assists in monitoring customer traffic to minimize waiting and the amount of time food must be held on the serving line.
- Ensures proper cleanliness, sanitation, and safety is maintained during cooking.
- Properly stores leftover food items and supplies at the conclusion of the serving period.
- Properly cleans and sanitizes the food preparation areas.
- Assists with coordinating the work of student assistants assigned to food production.
- Assists with a variety of other food service functions as needed.

Identifies and reports problems regarding equipment malfunction.

Represents the AS Dining Services to the campus community, vendors, and customers.

Work is performed in a restaurant and kitchen environment; exposure to heat and moisture; continuous contact with staff, campus community, and public.

One (1) year full-time or part-time equivalent responsible work experience in quantity food preparation, cooking and service OR four (4) semesters as a student worker at Marketplace Café, Sutter Hall or Catering departments of the Associated Students.
