The Infant Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants (typically ages 6 weeks to 12–18 months). This role involves assisting with daily caregiving routines, engaging infants in age-appropriate activities, and ensuring a clean, organized classroom that promotes early learning and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing daily lesson plans and activities that support infants’ cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development
- Provide attentive, responsive care including feeding, diapering, soothing, and maintaining sleep schedules
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all infants at all times
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized classroom environment in accordance with licensing regulations
- Support developmentally appropriate play and interaction (e.g., sensory activities, tummy time, music, and language exposure)
- Communicate effectively with Lead Teacher regarding children’s needs, progress, and any concerns
- Build positive relationships with parents by sharing daily updates on their child’s care and development
- Follow all health, safety, and childcare licensing guidelines
- Assist with record-keeping such as feeding charts, diaper logs, and incident reports
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA (Child Development Associate) or early childhood coursework preferred
- Previous experience working with infants (childcare center, babysitting, or similar setting) preferred
- Knowledge of basic infant care practices and early childhood development
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift up to 30–40 pounds and engage in active classroom participation

Schedule
