Job description:
The Safety Specialist is responsible for the risk management of a large electrical contracting company based in the CT area. The Safety Specialist shall be responsible for training company employees in EH&S awareness within the electrical construction industry and is responsible for the enforcement of company EH&S policies. The Safety Specialist is the EH&S liaison between this Contractor, its clients, and its counterparts, and is responsible for keeping company EH&S policies current with industry standards, and more generally, for the overall coordination of an industry-leading safety program.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure jobsite compliance with company EH&S policy, OSHA, and client’s safety policies.
- Plan and conduct regular quarterly Corporate Safety Forums.
- Create a positive, constructive rapport with clients and their EH&S managers.
- Provide Risk Management to aid corporate EH&S standings.
- Provide EH&S training for company employees.
- Provide project methods of procedures, job hazard analysis and compose documentation.
- Assemble and compose site specific safety plans.
- Accident investigation, root-cause analysis and following up with the insurance company and client’s EH&S managers.
- Perform routine project safety audits and provide corrective action feedback.
- Manage worker’s compensation claims.
- Manage CCIP and OCIP projects.
- Conduct monthly corporate safety committee meetings.
- Create and implement programs to further reduce safety incidents and near-misses.
- Manage corporate MSDS program.
- Manage corporate tool operation safety.
- Facilitate corporate Quality Control program.
- Manage corporate OSHA Log.
- Work with personnel to maintain records of all safety-related activities.
Qualifications:
- Experience in the electrical construction industry, either as a licensed electrician or as a safety professional overseeing electrical construction.
- Strong communicator, capable of conveying specific EH&S requirements to field and corporate employees in a clear, understandable manner.
- Excellent writing skills and ability to maintain detailed records.
- OSHA Outreach Trainer (construction) or eligible to become a certified trainer.
- A minimum of one of the following:
- A college degree in Safety and Occupational Health plus three years of experience in construction EH&S in addition to a commitment to obtaining the CSP certification.
- OR:
- A CSP and five years of experience in construction EH&S.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70E
- CPR certified and First Aid certified.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteTechnical school or apprenticeship education minimum, college degree preferred.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
