Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Water & Sewer Billing Secretary / Assistant Treasurer to join our municipal team. This vital role combines administrative excellence with financial oversight, ensuring accurate billing, efficient account management, and seamless customer service. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and software systems. In this position, you will support the water and sewer department’s operations while assisting with treasury functions to promote fiscal responsibility and transparency.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for residents by greeting visitors and responding to phone calls and inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Receive, process, and accurately record water and sewer payments using Borough’s billing software.
- Maintain daily operations of the office to ensure consistent and reliable service to residents.
- Assist in ensuring the efficient administration of the Borough's water and sewer billing operations.
- Provide administrative support to the Borough Secretary/Treasurer.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Maintain accurate records and files in accordance with Borough policies.
- Prepare correspondence and perform general office duties.
- Utilize QuickBooks and other software applications to support financial and administrative operations.
- Learn and adapt to new technologies, software, and processes as needed.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Borough operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or relevant coursework preferred.
- Previous office administration, bookkeeping, customer service, or municipal experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and strong computer skills required.
- Experience with QuickBooks is strongly preferred.
- Ability to learn new software and computer systems quickly.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Friendly, professional, and committed to providing exceptional service to the community.
- Be of good moral character and able to pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to be bonded.
Pay: $40,560.00 - $44,720.00 per year
