Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated and professional Box Truck Drivers with experience operating 26 foot Box Trucks, with Liftgates, to join our distribution team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and efficient delivery operations. As a Box Truck Driver, you will be responsible for transporting freight and goods across local routes, while ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations.
Duties
- Safely operate 26-foot box trucks and other, adhering to all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Load and unload freight using an Electric Pallet Jack, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transit.
- Navigate Tri-State Routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel consumption.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and fluid levels.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs in compliance withs regulations when applicable.
- Follow safety protocols related to hazardous materials and dangerous goods transportation to prevent accidents or violations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure the proper handling of freight during loading/unloading processes, especially when dealing with specialized cargo such as refrigerated goods or hazardous materials.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving and freight delivery.
- Proven experience operating a 26-foot Box Truck with a lift-gate
- Proven experience operating an Electric Pallet Jack
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle type (Class A or B).
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck driving..
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely during load & unload operations.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning software to ensure timely deliveries.
