The Role:
In the 25‑bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), you will provide comprehensive, high acuity care to infants, children, and adolescents with complex and life-threatening conditions. This is a fast paced, highly collaborative environment where strong clinical judgment and adaptability are essential.
In your day-to-day practice, you will:
Deliver direct, patient centered critical care utilizing advanced assessment and intervention skills
Monitor and manage patients requiring ventilatory support, vasoactive infusions, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
Perform continuous reassessment, identifying subtle changes and initiating timely interventions
Collaborate closely with intensivists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
Provide compassionate support and education to families navigating complex and emotional care experiences
Participate in evidence-based practice, quality improvement initiatives, and academic collaboration
Contribute to a unit culture that prioritizes clinical excellence, teamwork, and ongoing professional development

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.
Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The pay range for this role is $39.90 - $53.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
