Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional functioning using standardized tools and clinical observations.
- Develop tailored treatment plans that align with patients’ goals, medical conditions, and occupational needs.
- Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions in various environments including inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, and community settings.
- Utilize manual handling techniques and knowledge of physiology and anatomy to facilitate safe and effective therapy sessions.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, adaptive strategies, and workplace safety practices related to weight handling and occupational health.
- Monitor patient progress regularly, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.
- Maintain detailed documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Skills
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and occupational health principles.
- Proficiency in manual handling techniques and weight handling in the workplace to ensure safety during therapy sessions.
- Experience working with pediatric, geriatric, inpatient, outpatient, post-acute care, sub-acute care, and clinic populations.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver occupational therapy within academic settings or similar environments with a focus on education-based interventions.
- Knowledge of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) procedures to respond effectively during emergencies.
- Technical proficiency with therapy equipment and documentation software used in healthcare settings.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and educating patients on their treatment plans.
