American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVOR (Cardiovascular OR) position at a high-acuity hospital in Asheville, NC, requiring at least 2 years of experience and critical care background.

Work in the Cardiovascular PreOp unit (CV PreOp, Unit 703) within the Heart Tower of a large 815-bed regional referral hospital

Unit has 4 beds with a 1:1 patient ratio

Patient population consists of cardiovascular surgery patients requiring high-acuity perioperative care
-
Procedures include large-bore IV starts, chin-to-toe hair removal, medication administration, skin assessment, assisting with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement, patient transport to OR, and assisting with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin prep

Charting is performed in Cerner
-
GE Carescape monitoring and Fuji ultrasound equipment are used on the unit
-
Schedule is Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–1:30 PM
-
On-call requirement includes staying late 1–2 times per week

Floating within scope of practice and experience is required

13-week contract

Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)

Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR or cardiovascular surgery RN experience
-
Critical care experience is required; PreOp experience is a plus
-
Proficiency with Cerner or comparable EMR documentation
-
Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

BCMA experience and excellent documentation skills required

Strong interdepartmental communication skills

US SSN and date of birth required for consideration

One professional reference required (two required if currently residing in Florida or Missouri)

No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Provide perioperative nursing care to cardiovascular surgery patients in a PreOp setting, collaborating with a team of RNs, a CNC, unit secretary, and management shared with the CVOR
