Duties:
- Reviews the Daily Booking Report to identify and screen candidates for Berrien Specialty Courts.
- Conducts state- and court-approved assessments, coordinates mental health evaluations as needed, obtains releases and diagnoses from providers, and refers eligible individuals to Berrien Recovery Court or Berrien Sobriety Court when appropriate.
- Prepares and presents screening results, LS/CMI scores, and participant files to the team for qualification.
- Administers drug and alcohol testing for all Berrien Specialty Courts and serves as the primary court contact for current BWC participants.
- Collaborates with probation officers and treatment providers to implement court orders, including arranging treatment or detention placements, transportation, and access to community resources.
- Maintains accurate data entry in DCCMIS in compliance with SCAO standards and schedules and attends required review hearings, team meetings, and stakeholder sessions.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in human services, criminal justice, corrections, correctional administration, behavioral health science, social science, psychology, social work, rehabilitation counseling, guidance counseling, or related field; OR
- Bachelor's degree and an accumulated total of three (3) years of paid full-time experience working in the mental health field or in a treatment setting with substance-use disordered clients.
Special Requirements:
- College transcripts must be submitted with application.
- May be assigned to multiple office locations throughout Berrien County based on program coverage needs and will have regular contact with individuals convicted of criminal offenses.
- Must possess and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license and access to a reliable vehicle throughout the course of employment.
- Will be required to successfully pass a pre-employment physical, including drug testing prior to employment.
- A background check will be performed, and employees will be fingerprinted. Subject to random alcohol and drug testing.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database applications.
- Comfortable with public speaking and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Foreign language proficiency or experience working with diverse populations is preferred.
Note:
- The BWC Resource Coordinator position is funded through annual grants awarded by SCAO, which run from October 1 through September 30. In the event grant funding is not renewed or is reduced, the position and/or program may be terminated unless alternative funding is secured.
