Area Cleaning Supervisor / Account Manager
Location: Northern Virginia
Schedule: Full-time, primarily afternoons/evenings with some daytime flexibility
Language: Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred
We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Cleaning Supervisor / Account Manager to oversee cleaning operations for a group of commercial buildings in Northern Virginia.
This is a field-based role. The supervisor will visit assigned locations each week, inspect the work being performed, communicate with cleaning staff, follow up with customers, and make sure each building is being cleaned to company standards.
The right person does not need to sit behind a desk all day. This position is best for someone who is organized, comfortable driving between locations, good with people, and able to solve problems before they become bigger issues.
About the Job
Our company provides routine cleaning services for approximately 15–20 commercial buildings. Most cleaning is performed in the evening, with some daytime cleaning staff also assigned to the account.
The supervisor is responsible for making sure the buildings are properly staffed, inspected, supplied, and maintained. This includes regular cleaning, daytime cleaner support, customer communication, electronic waste/recycling program follow-up, and periodic project work such as floor care, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, or other scheduled services.
Main Responsibilities
- Visit and inspect each assigned location weekly
- Complete inspections using GPS-confirmed company vehicle tracking
- Take a minimum of 5 photos during each inspection
- Inspect restrooms, floors, trash, dusting, entryways, janitor closets, and general building appearance
- Make sure janitor closets are clean, organized, stocked, and meet company standards
- Communicate cleaning issues to employees and follow up until corrected
- Coach, retrain, and support employees when work does not meet expectations
- Interview and help hire cleaning employees when needed
- Report staffing concerns immediately
- Follow up on customer concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Act as the main day-to-day contact between the customer, cleaners, and company management
- Perform at least one evening inspection each week
- Monitor cleaning supplies, paper products, chemicals, and equipment conditions
- Help coordinate the electronic waste/recycling program and make sure it is being followed correctly
- Help schedule and coordinate periodic project work
- Submit a weekly summary report every Friday covering inspections, employee issues, customer concerns, supplies, staffing, and project updates
- Manage communication with our subcontracted cleaning company that services buildings in Roanoke
- Follow up on Roanoke service issues, inspections, staffing concerns, supplies, and customer requests as needed
- Travel to Roanoke occasionally, typically quarterly, for in-person site visits and service review
Periodic Project Work
Some buildings require scheduled project work throughout the year, such as floor work, carpet cleaning, detail cleaning, or other special services.
These projects may be performed by outside project crews, subcontractors, internal staff, or a project porter already on payroll. If the supervisor has their own qualified cleaning/project company, there may be an opportunity to perform some approved project work separately, as long as the work meets company and customer standards.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous cleaning, janitorial, facilities, or supervisor experience preferred
- Comfortable inspecting buildings and holding employees accountable
- Able to communicate clearly with cleaners, customers, and management
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
- Organized and able to manage multiple buildings
- Comfortable using a phone for photos, reports, messages, and inspection updates
- Comfortable logging into the customer's work ticketing system, analyzing tickets, scheduling projects & then logging into the system to mark them as complete.
- Able to work evenings when needed
- Reliable transportation required; company vehicle provided.
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must be dependable, professional, and responsive
This Role Is a Good Fit For Someone Who:
- Likes being in the field instead of sitting in an office
- Can talk respectfully with employees while still making sure work gets done
- Notices small cleaning details before the customer complains
- Can follow a weekly routine and stay organized
- Is comfortable working with a team where many employees speak Spanish
- Wants responsibility and the chance to help an account run smoothly
- Has their own separate cleaning company that can make additional revenue completing project work.
- Knows cleaning subcontractors in the area that can complete routine project work on budget.
Compensation
Pay will be based on experience. This position may also include opportunities to assist with or perform approved project work, depending on qualifications and company needs.
