Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-testing procedures such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception tests
- Assist with patient intake, including obtaining medical history and chief complaint
- Operate diagnostic equipment and perform tests such as visual field testing, retinal imaging, and corneal topography
- Assist the optometrist during eye exams and procedures
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care
- Maintain accurate and organized patient records using electronic medical record systems
- Handle front desk duties including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and collecting payments
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients by addressing inquiries and resolving issues
Experience:
- Previous experience as an optometric technician or in a similar role is preferred
- Familiarity with optometric systems and software (officemate, Crystal, EPM/EHR) is a plus
- Knowledge of medical coding and billing procedures is beneficial
- Experience working with pediatric patients is desirable
- Strong sales skills and retail math knowledge are advantageous for promoting eyewear sales
