Front of House Manager
Gathering Roots is a multi-concept restaurant management group overseeing a growing portfolio of restaurant concepts throughout Metro Detroit. We are seeking an experienced Front of House Manager to join our management team.
We're looking for a hands-on leader who thrives on the floor, develops strong teams, maintains high service standards, and knows how to keep a busy restaurant running smoothly.
This is a FOH-focused management position—not a General Manager role.
What You'll Do
- Lead day-to-day FOH operations and manage the floor during service
- Oversee, coach, train, and develop FOH team members
- Manage reservations, seating, pacing, and the overall guest experience
- Hold employees accountable to established service and operating standards
- Create weekly FOH schedules and manage labor
- Lead pre-shift meetings and ensure the team is service-ready
- Handle guest concerns and service recovery
- Perform both opening and closing management duties as scheduled
- Maintain high standards for service, cleanliness, organization, and presentation
- Complete required administrative responsibilities
- Work closely with culinary and operations leadership
Our Systems Matter
We have established operating procedures, service standards, and systems already in place. The FOH Manager must be able to learn them, follow them, and hold the entire team accountable for doing the same.
We value experience and new ideas, but we're looking for someone who will first learn and master how we operate—not try to replace established processes with those from a previous restaurant.
Schedule & Commitment
This is a full-time restaurant management position requiring a minimum of 40 operational hours per week, plus the administrative time necessary to successfully manage the department.
Candidates must have the flexibility required of restaurant management, including the ability to work opening shifts, closing shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed by the operation.
What We're Looking For
- Restaurant management experience, preferably upscale, high-volume, or polished full-service
- Strong floor presence and leadership skills
- Experience training and developing FOH teams
- Ability to enforce standards and hold employees accountable
- Experience with scheduling, labor management, reservations, and POS systems
- Excellent guest recovery and communication skills
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Flexibility and availability appropriate for a restaurant management position
