Opportunity in Dentistry for college students or others seeking part-time work. No experience necessary; we will train the right candidate(s).
We are seeking someone who can work: Two or more weekdays 9am to 1pm or 2pm to 6pm or both shifts. If you can work more than this, that’s great, just let us know. We have several part-time students so the schedule will change every quarter.
Maybe you were originally looking at customer service, retail, restaurant host, server, barista, or food service type positions? Have you ever thought about Dental Assisting? You don’t need to be interested in dentistry although if you’re already thinking about a future in health care, this might be a great introduction.
There will be a lot to learn the first 1- 3 months. It’s mostly learning the names of things and the steps for different procedures. You might not be able to learn this quick enough by just showing up; it might take some studying. It also helps if you have artistic ability. People who can visualize things pick this up easier; those who can’t struggle. Assisting is not for everyone but it’s certainly not rocket science either. It’s more like part customer service, part food prep skills, part caretaker and unfortunately, part dishwasher. Also, there’s some blood from time to time. If you happen to speak Japanese that would help us. Cantonese and Spanish are also useful from time to time.
If you have no experience, starting wage is $21.30 per hour. You must be super reliable and be pleasant to be around. If you already have assisting experience, then you’re worth more right off the bat. Just let us know.
If hired, you will have to register with the state; there’s a $40 fee and annual renewals of $21. We’ll help you with the process. You’ll also need scrubs, jacket (health care uniform) and protective glasses. These are pretty inexpensive. We just want to be upfront to minimize any surprises.
Thanks for looking and good luck with your search.
