Responsibilities
- Review and interpret physician medication orders to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and safety for inpatient populations across various units including ICU, PICU, trauma centers, and general medicine wards.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments by analyzing medical histories, physiology, anatomy, and current clinical data to tailor medication therapies effectively.
- Manage medication preparation and administration processes using aseptic techniques and sterile compounding methods for IV infusions and other parenteral therapies.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement acute pain management plans, emergency protocols, and critical care strategies aligned with best practices.
- Monitor patient responses to medications, adjust therapy as needed, and provide expert guidance on complex cases involving trauma, pediatrics, or critical care scenarios such as ICU or Level I/II Trauma Center cases.
- Educate patients and staff on medication use, potential side effects, contraindications, and proper medication administration procedures to promote patient service excellence.
- Maintain thorough documentation of interventions, medication histories, and clinical decisions in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of hospital medicine including various routes of medication dosing experience, emergency room procedures, and trauma center protocols.
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology principles related to acute care settings.
- Proven experience in managed care environments with an emphasis on optimizing medication therapy within complex healthcare systems.
- Skilled in IV infusion preparation, aseptic technique, and sterile compounding practices.
- Demonstrated ability in patient assessment, pain management strategies—including acute pain—and medication administration across diverse populations such as pediatrics or trauma patients.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to inpatient care scenarios including physiology and anatomy concepts.

Pay: $47.60 - $57.32 per hour
