Overview
Somos Group is seeking a communications assistant to work in its Los Angeles office.
Somos Group is a multidisciplinary think-and-do organization of legal, planning, and land-use experts dedicated to partnering with public and private-sector clients to build and sustain community resilience, promote economic development, increase social equity, and accelerate prosperity.
The Communications Assistant will perform a wide range of communications duties. This work will include assisting with social media drafting and editing, communications-related research and outreach, managing portions of our media calendar, and helping prepare newsletters and announcements.
Essential Functions of Job:
· Support all communications activities and operations, with focus on social media.
· Assist in building and cultivating contact with bi-lingual, industry, professional, policy and local/national media.
- Support writing and editing of content for internal communications presentations, social media, website, and e-newsletter (Framework).
· Writing and editing support for all firm materials as needed, including press releases, op-eds, presentations, reports.
- Provide support as needed for external brand and firm content, email, and website communications.
· Other duties TBD.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years experience working in communications, journalism, or related field.
- Advanced skill set in posting and managing social media content.
- Outstanding writing skills.
- Experience working with print and broadcast representatives to promote stories and elevate the profile of the firm and its principals.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and turn projects around quickly.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Strong teamwork skills, ability to work in a highly collaborative team culture. Ability to think creatively and strategically.
- Outstanding attention to detail combined with exceptional spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.
- Proficient with Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, and InDesign.
Education/Certification
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
Salary: This is an independent contractor position with an expected 15-20 hours of work per week.
Pay: $30.00 per hour
