M. J. Sheridan of Texas, Inc. is seeking to fill several positions in gas line installation. Positions in Round Rock areas for show up, daily travel thru-out the greater Austin and surrounding area.
Seeking individuals with prior utility and excavation construction experience as well as those who are interested in learning the business. We are willing to train and promote from within. Pay is comparable for entry-level construction laborer positions, with pay at higher levels for those who have prior experience, or who can drive a crew truck pulling a construction trailer, no CDL required. We hire English and Spanish speaking candidates.
Laborers will perform a variety of duties, loading of job materials on and off of company vehicles and using a variety of hand tools to locate conflicting utilities at the job site. Laborer works at the direction of the Job Foreman, may train to use a mini-excavator, tapping equipment, etc. The position requires strenuous work in all weather conditions. May be trained to electronically submit important job details daily from laptop.
Essential Functions:
Ability to handle loading and unloading of all job required materials, equipment, and tools up to 90 pounds.
Drivers must be able to drive a company crew cab pick-up safely while pulling a trailer loaded with tool boxes, air compressor, mini excavator and other construction tools to various job sites.
Ability to understand duties as assigned by the Job Foreman, and follow instructions.
Proficient with the use of a shovel for digging and backfilling of earth in and around the job site and general clean-up of the completed job.
Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:
Ability to learn the use of a jackhammer for breaking concrete when needed.
Ability to train and learn plastic pipe fusion, electrofusion, line tapping, OSHA safety, and take and pass Operator Qualification on required subjects.
Drivers must have current valid Texas Driver's license and pass a Driver's Road Evaluation prior to hire.
Must be authorized to work in the United States and pass a background check.
M. J. Sheridan is regulated by the Department of Transportation, (DOT). All employees involved in safety sensitive positions must take and pass a new hire drug screen and periodic random drug screenings.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with 50 hours on average per week, Monday - Friday, possible Saturdays, approximately 6am to 5:30pm, depending on job assignment.
