Director of Community Engagement - Chillicothe
The Director of Community Engagement is responsible for the affiliate’s community engagement functions in Ross, Pickaway, Jackson and Vinton Counties. This includes planning, coordinating, and executing a broad resource development plan that includes fundraising, coalition building, special events, volunteer recruitment, and community mobilization that leads to helping the organization achieve its goals.
Principal Areas of Responsibility (90% of time requirement)
Analysis & Planning
· Manages the creation of an overall strategic plan for community engagement, including raising awareness about the organization and developing engaging pathways for donors and volunteers
Fundraising
· Work with the Director of Development & Communications to develop and implement a sound fundraising plan to accomplish organization goals
· Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors so as to secure restricted and unrestricted donations to fund operations and construction projects (frequently from individuals, faith-based organizations, corporations, foundations and civic groups)
· Act as a catalyst for fundraising and cultivation of donors/volunteers through major and planned giving, annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, special events, membership and community relations in addition to prospect research and donor stewardship. Coordinate all funds development activities including but not limited to:
- Major Donor Cultivation - Work to cultivate and increase investment at the $500 - $50,000 level; increase the gifts of current donors and the overall number of donors; coordinate prospect research.
- House Sponsorships - Identify and recruit sponsors for individual for home builds.
- Foundation Relations – Develop grant proposals.
- Corporate Relations - Strengthen relations with the corporate community in the HFHSEO assigned service area. Works to package funding and employee participation opportunities.
- Special Events - Successfully produce fundraising events. Assist coalitions and community engagement committees in developing and coordinating special events.
- Coalitions & Community Engagement Committees – Work to develop and increase size of coalitions and community engagement committees.
- Gift-In-Kind Donations – Develop relationships leading to donations of materials and services for Habitat projects and in the ReStore.
- Volunteer Development - Strengthen the volunteer development program, increasing awareness of Habitat in the broader community and growing the overall number of volunteers through recruitment and retention.
Community Engagement
· Work with community leaders, public officials & local initiatives to promote the organization’s mission and goals
· Seek opportunities to leverage new and existing partnerships to expand the mission of the organization
· Represents HFHSEO in community initiatives and events that support our brand goals/strategies and engage key constituents
· Develop new coalitions to help assist HFHSEO in the completion of its goals & objectives
Other Area of Responsibility (10% of Time Requirement)
· Oversee data entry into the volunteer/donor database
· Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications
4-year degree or relevant experience in non-profit fundraising/volunteer coordination
Strong relationship building & communication skills
Flexibility to adapt to a changing work environment

Enthusiastic self-starter able to perform with minimal supervision
