Job description
Personal care assistant needed for a vibrant adult with cerebral palsy. He needs supportive care to assist him in activities of daily living.
Pay Rate Dependent on Experience
Responsibilities:
Support engagement in community and social activities
Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing
Transfers between bed and wheelchair using lift
Light housekeeping such as cleaning and laundry
Administer food and medications
Provide respiratory treatments and tracheotomy care
Maintain records of daily activities
Needs to be OK with cats being in the house
Experience:
Previous home care experience as a CNA, Personal Care Assistant, or similar role is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of basic caregiving techniques and practices
Background
Current and past caregivers have had a variety of backgrounds and levels of prior experience. We provide all necessary paid medical and support training, supervised by a medical lead to ensure consistency and that you feel confident before working independently.
This job is also very appealing to socially conscious people in education, social services, the arts, and more. The client is a brilliant man who communicates by blinking. He is passionate about politics, animals, science, and co-teaches classes at UCCS on assisting individuals with significant support needs. He has a wonderful and wicked sense of humor and jokes around often! He shows you around the community, takes you out for food & drinks, concerts and events, goes on walks, watches movies, and shares books with you!
We have immediate availability for all shifts: 8 am to 2 pm, 2 pm to 8 pm, 8 pm to 8 am. The overnight shifts are in the home, and 12 am to 6 am is an on call sleeping part of the shift, with comfortable sleeping accommodations provided. This is a year round job.
ABOUT THE CLIENT
He is a brilliant adult with a Cerebral Palsy who has very little control over his body. He communicates effectively through blinking and other nonverbal social-emotional cues. He co-teaches graduate classes at UCCS and is involved in the local community. His college major was political science, so he stays up to date on current events and loves going out and having fun.
SHIFTS
· 8:00 am -- 2:00 pm
· 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm
· 8:00 pm -- 8:00 am (see above re: overnights)
PAID TRAINING PROVIDED
· We provide and pay for all training
· We ensure your skill and confidence before scheduling you for solo shifts
Qualifications
· Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and Influenza
· Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
· Be at least 18 years old
· Qualities including being organized, detail-oriented, socially-conscious, flexible, attentive, outgoing, and curious.
· Medical experience is desirable

Pay: From $22.00 to $25.00 per hour depending on experience
Expected hours: 12 to24 hours per week
