Position Overview
Voltage Power Solutions (VPS) is seeking an experienced ‘lead flagger’ to lead and train all aspects of daily flagging operations.
The Lead Flagger will submit for, and eventually create in-house, Traffic Control Plans (TCP), review TCPs and plan accordingly for each flagging operation. The position will require close communication with foremen and general foremen as to what is required for each project and to ensure the safety of VPS employees and the public. The lead flagger will be responsible for training other flaggers and overseeing each project to ensure compliance with local and state laws.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review project maps and TCPs to determine project scope and requirements.
- Develop detailed work plans to provide proper traffic control for all projects when required.
- Analyze project requirements and TCPs to determine flagging crew sizes and traffic control equipment needs.
- Evaluate project risks, permitting requirements, and construction challenges that may impact project costs and schedules.
- Maintain active communication of plans and situational statuses with the appropriate VPS leadership.
- Collaborate with VPS field leadership to develop project needs.
- Work with the safety department to ensure proper methods are being implemented and meet any and all compliance requirements.
- Maintain organized records and supporting documentation.
- Set up and remove traffic control devices.
- Direct traffic to ensure the safety of workers, drivers and pedestrians.
- Adjust traffic control as needed while following all rules and safety guidelines.
- Actively communicate with VPS employees to prevent injury should a vehicle fails to heed signals.
- Record license plate numbers of violators to report to police.
Required Qualifications
- Highest commitment to VPS core values.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Minimum of 3 years as a lead flagger and all associated accountabilities.
- Proven traffic control experience for utility construction projects.
- Extensive knowledge of local and state laws (MUTCD).
- Ability to accurately estimate labor hours and traffic control equipment requirements.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Flagger Certification.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience working on Idaho based construction projects.
