Position Summary
CenCore Group is seeking an experienced Facility General Maintenance Technician to support short-term facility maintenance requirements at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. This is a temporary overseas assignment expected to last approximately 30–60 days.
The Facility General Maintenance Technician will perform routine maintenance, repair, inspection, and general upkeep of residential and commercial facilities, structures, fixtures, and related systems. The ideal candidate will have broad facilities maintenance experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely and independently in an overseas operational environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and minor repairs on residential and commercial facilities.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair common facility components and systems.
- Perform basic structural and carpentry-related maintenance and repairs.
- Conduct minor plumbing repairs, including work on fixtures, drains, faucets, toilets, and related components.
- Perform basic locksmith duties, including adjustment, repair, or replacement of locks, doors, hinges, and related hardware.
- Maintain and repair fencing, gates, latches, barriers, and associated hardware.
- Assemble, install, repair, relocate, or replace furnishings, shelving, fixtures, and other facility equipment.
- Identify maintenance deficiencies and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and equipment commonly used in construction and facility maintenance trades.
- Complete assigned work orders and accurately document maintenance activities, materials used, and work performed.
- Follow all customer, site, safety, security, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Coordinate with supervisors, other maintenance personnel, and customer representatives to complete assigned work.
- Perform other facility maintenance duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current and active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance.
- Five to ten years of relevant experience in general facilities maintenance, construction, building maintenance, or a related trade.
- Experience performing basic maintenance and repairs involving residential or commercial:
- Structural components
- Plumbing fixtures and systems
- Doors, locks, and hardware
- Fencing and gates
- Furnishings and common facility fixtures
- Other general building systems and components
- Ability to safely use manual tools, power tools, and equipment commonly used in construction and facility maintenance trades.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, safety instructions, technical guidance, and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to identify maintenance problems and perform basic troubleshooting and corrective repairs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Must possess a current United States passport with at least six months remaining before expiration at the time of deployment.
- Must be willing and able to travel internationally and work at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, for the full duration of the assignment.
- Must meet all applicable medical, deployment, security, and customer access requirements.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to perform physical activities associated with facility maintenance work, including:
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and working in confined or restricted areas.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Climbing ladders, stairs, or elevated work areas.
- Working indoors and outdoors in varying environmental and weather conditions.
- Wearing required personal protective equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting Department of Defense, federal government, military installation, or overseas contingency operations.
- Previous experience working at Al Udeid Air Base or another overseas military installation.
- Experience working in secure or classified environments.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and work-order management systems.
- OSHA, safety, construction, electrical, plumbing, or facilities-related training or certifications.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to operate government or company vehicles, if required.
Work Environment
This position is based at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. Work may be performed in residential, commercial, industrial, secure, and outdoor environments. The position may require extended workdays, nonstandard shifts, weekends, holidays, or schedule adjustments based on mission and customer requirements.
Employment is contingent upon verification of clearance eligibility, passport validity, deployment readiness, customer approval, and successful completion of all required pre-employment and overseas processing requirements.
