Overview
We are hiring a reliable and experienced Local Dispatcher to coordinate daily routes and manage freight operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on knowledge of both flatbed and dry van equipment and be comfortable working in a fast-paced transportation environment.
Responsibilities
- Dispatch drivers for local deliveries and pickups
- Coordinate and manage flatbed and dry van loads
- Communicate with drivers, customers, and brokers
- Ensure timely pickups and deliveries
- Monitor routes and troubleshoot delays or issues
- Maintain accurate logs and dispatch records
- Provide strong customer service and clear communication
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of logistics, freight dispatching, and transportation planning principles
- Familiarity with GIS, GPS technology, and transportation data analysis tools
- Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently
- Proficiency in data entry, typing accuracy, and managing shipping & receiving documentation
- Experience working with supply chain software like Access, AS400 or Samsara is highly preferred
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong analysis skills to evaluate routing options, freight costs, and delivery schedules
Qualifications
- Dispatching or logistics experience
- Experience with flatbed and van equipment REQUIRED
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication skills (phone & computer)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced enviroment
- Dependable, punctual, and team-focused
