Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Low-Bed Truck Driver (Class A - Stick Shift) role based in Buena Park, CA. The Low-Bed Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating a Class A manual-transmission truck to transport heavy equipment and materials to and from job sites. Daily tasks include inspecting the truck and trailer, performing basic maintenance checks, securing and unloading equipment, and ensuring loads are properly balanced and tied down. The driver will follow assigned routes and schedules, adhere to DOT and company safety regulations, complete required logs and documentation, and communicate with dispatch, supervisors, and crew members regarding delivery times and job-site conditions. The role also involves assisting with proper positioning of equipment on-site and supporting a safety-first culture on every project.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with demonstrated experience driving manual (stick shift) transmission trucks.
- Proficient in truck driving, including maneuvering low-bed trailers, backing, and operating in active construction zones.
- Experience with loading, securing, and unloading heavy equipment and materials using appropriate tie-down methods and safety practices.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, and safe driving standards for commercial vehicles.
- Strong commitment to safety, including performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reporting maintenance needs promptly.
- Ability to read and follow maps, job tickets, and dispatch instructions, and to maintain accurate driving and delivery records.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work full-time with variable hours as project schedules require.
- Previous construction or heavy equipment transport experience preferred; familiarity with local Southern California routes is a plus.
- Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job, including climbing onto equipment, securing loads, and working outdoors in varying conditions.
- Clean driving record that meets company insurance requirements; ability to pass required background checks and drug screening.
