GPI is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join our Albany, NY team and support the delivery of high-quality structural solutions. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, an interest in mentoring, and the ability to collaborate while managing multiple projects.
As part of our bridge group, you will work on a broad range of complex projects, including multi-span, long-span, and signature structures. Assignments include new designs, rehabilitations, preservations, and repairs involving bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and dams.
Key Responsibilities

Perform structural analysis and design for bridge, rehabilitation, and replacement projects

Prepare design calculations, technical reports, quantity estimates, and construction documents

Develop contract plans, specifications, and cost estimates

Conduct load ratings, structural evaluations, and feasibility studies

Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders

Support field inspections, site visits, and construction-phase engineering services

Ensure design work complies with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Minimum, with structural emphasis preferred)

EIT certification required; PE license preferred

4+ years of bridge design experience (more for senior roles)

Experience with structural analysis software (e.g., LARSA, STAAD, SAP2000, AASHTOWare BrR) preferred

Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications

Experience with NYSDOT and Locally Administered Federal-Aid projects preferred

Strong communication, technical writing, and organizational skills

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
-
Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
-
Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members

Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
