American Traveler is hiring a travel LPN for a Medical-Surgical unit at an acute care Magnet-recognized teaching hospital in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY LPN license and acute care experience.

Night shift position, 7p-7a (3x12-hour shifts)

13-week contract
-
Medical-Surgical unit (5400/5500) in a 528-bed acute care Magnet-recognized teaching hospital in Rochester, NY
-
Medical patient population including COPD exacerbation, infections, failure to thrive, and social issues
-
LPN works with their own patient assignment under RN support
-
Patient ratio of 1:5-6
-
Epic EMR experience required
-
Every other weekend required
-
Every other holiday coverage required, as needed
-
Floating within skillset required
-
Local candidates accepted (reduced rate applies)

Active New York single-state LPN license required at start of assignment (NY is not a Compact state); license required if applicable

Minimum 1 year of LPN experience
-
Acute care experience within the last 2 years required
-
Current BLS certification required
-
Proficiency in vital signs, pain assessment, intake/output monitoring, isolation precautions, physical restraints, and specimen labeling
-
Experience with oxygen administration via nasal cannula, feeding tube management, telemetry monitoring, and 12-lead EKG
-
Medication administration skills including oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, ear and eye drops, IV therapy with pumps, and blood glucose monitoring
-
Wound care experience including simple dressings and JP/Hemovac drain management
-
Foley catheter insertion (male and female), clean catch urine collection, and ability to communicate status changes to RN/MD
-
2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Hospital is Magnet-recognized and certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center, with affiliations with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park
-
Specialized hospital services include the Sands-Constellation Heart Institute, Lipson Cancer Institute, Neuroscience Institute, Pediatric & Young Adult Emergency Center, and advanced surgical programs
