We are a growing real estate company dedicated to providing exceptional property management and real estate services. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Real Estate Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, excellent communication skills, and experience working in a fast-paced real estate environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records for multiple properties and company accounts.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts monthly.
- Prepare and distribute detailed monthly financial statements and property reports to property owners.
- Generate accurate property statement reports, ensuring all income, expenses, and supporting documentation are clearly detailed.
- Conduct monthly phone calls and email communications with property owners to review financial statements, address questions, discuss property performance, and resolve any concerns.
- Manage owner distributions and vendor payments.
- Process payroll and maintain payroll records.
- Prepare and remit payroll taxes and other required IRS and state tax payments.
- Assist with year-end financial reporting and coordinate with the company's CPA.
- Track commissions, security deposits, and property-related expenses.
- Maintain organized digital and physical financial records.
- Ensure compliance with all accounting standards, company policies, and applicable regulations.
- Provide administrative support related to financial operations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, or a related field.
- 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within the real estate or property management industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Preferred Experience
Experience with the following software is highly preferred:
- Buildium
- QuickBooks
- Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, and financial reporting)
Additional preferred experience includes:
- Property management accounting
- Owner statements and reporting
- Budget preparation and forecasting
- Trust and escrow accounting
