Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our Freshman Boys Basketball team as a Head Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in basketball, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering the development of young athletes both on and off the court. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement practice schedules, training programs, and game strategies for the Freshman Boys Basketball team.
- Conduct regular practices and oversee all team activities, ensuring a positive and productive environment.
- Teach fundamental basketball skills, including dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive techniques.
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect among players, coaches, and opponents.
- Organize and manage game-day logistics, including travel arrangements and communication with parents and players.
- Monitor the academic performance of student-athletes and provide guidance to ensure they maintain eligibility.
- Collaborate with other coaching staff and school administration to support the overall athletic program.
- Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to help athletes improve their skills.
- Foster a culture of inclusivity and encourage participation from all team members.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on best practices and coaching techniques.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, particularly in basketball, at the high school or youth level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and training techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with players, parents, and staff.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing practices and games.
- Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Must pass a background check and comply with all school district policies and regulations.
- Availability for evening and weekend practices and games during the basketball season.
