Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing blood draws and specimen collection with a focus on patient care and comfort, in the laboratory and locations in the local Spotswood/Jamesburg/Monroe Towsnhip area. This role is essential in ensuring accurate laboratory results and supporting the overall health of our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture blood collection.
- Process specimens according to established protocols to ensure integrity and accuracy.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and infection control standards.
- Assist patients of all ages, including pediatrics and geriatrics, providing compassionate care and clear instructions throughout the collection process
- Accurately label and document specimens in compliance with medical terminology standards.
- Collaborate with clinical laboratory staff to ensure timely processing of samples.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies necessary for blood collection and processing.
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen storage, transportation, and documentation to support accurate testing results
- Adhere to safety protocols such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff at all times
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician credential from an accredited organization
- Reliable transportation and clean driving record if applicable
- Felixbility to work as needed
- Proven experience in medical laboratory work, including specimen collection and processing
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and laboratory techniques
- Familiarity with clinical environments and clinical laboratory procedures
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR/LIS systems for data entry and documentation
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques to maintain specimen quality and safety standards
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures related to specimen collection.
- Proficiency in phlebotomizing patients with varying levels of anxiety or discomfort.
- Ability to draw blood from patients with difficult veins.
- Ability to draw blood from patients of varying age groups (pediatric, adult, geriatric)
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to clinical laboratory settings.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience in patient care, demonstrating empathy and professionalism during interactions.
- Understanding of specimen collection processing protocols and laboratory standards.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years venipuncture blood draw
- Preferred 2-5 years

- Thursday: 12 PM to 4:30 PM
- Friday: 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM
