Title: Quality Assurance Engineer – Sterling Heights, MI
Job Description: A detail-oriented and organized Quality Assurance Engineer with strong experience in AS9100 quality systems to join our Quality Department. This is a full-time position responsible for ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations. The Quality Assurance Engineer will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality management systems while driving continuous improvement across processes and products.

Responsibilities:
· Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with AS9100 Rev D and related aerospace standards.
· Ensure company-wide adherence to AS9100, customer-specific, and regulatory requirements.
· Plan, conduct, and lead internal audits and support external audits (customer, registrar, NADCAP).
· Perform supplier audits and ensure supplier compliance with AS9100 requirements.
· Lead root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in accordance with AS9100 standards.
· Monitor quality performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
· Develop and maintain quality documentation including procedures, work instructions, control plans, and FMEAs.
· Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIRs) per AS9102 requirements and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
· Review manufacturing processes and documentation to ensure compliance with QMS and customer specifications.
· Coordinate failure analysis for nonconforming materials and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
· Manage nonconformance processes, including disposition, documentation, and cost impact analysis.
· Support new product introduction (NPI) activities to ensure quality requirements are integrated from design through production.
· Train employees on AS9100 requirements, quality procedures, and best practices.
· Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and maintain audit readiness at all times.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance within aerospace or defense manufacturing.
· Strong working knowledge of AS9100 Rev D, AS9102 (FAIR), and related aerospace quality standards.
· Experience with NADCAP, ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and AS13100 is highly preferred.
· Proven experience conducting internal, external, and supplier audits.
· Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and aerospace manufacturing processes.
· Proficiency in statistical analysis tools such as SPC, process capability studies, and Gage R&R.
· Experience with root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone).
· Familiarity with ERP systems (Syteline experience is a plus).
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
· Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
