Job Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Certified Dietary Manager to oversee our dietary services within a healthcare or assisted living setting. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of food service management, clinical nutrition, and health regulation policies. As a Certified Dietary Manager, you will lead food service operations, ensure compliance with health codes, and develop care plans that promote optimal nutrition and well-being for residents or patients. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency across the dietary department.
Duties
- Manage daily food service operations, including food production, menu planning, and meal delivery to ensure nutritional adequacy and resident satisfaction.
- Supervise and coordinate food service teams, providing training, mentorship, and performance evaluations to foster a collaborative work environment.
- Oversee dietary assessments and develop individualized care plans that address specific nutritional needs of residents or patients.
- Ensure compliance with all health regulation policies, including food safety management and food service health code standards.
- Monitor inventory levels, manage budgets, and control costs related to food procurement and staffing to maintain operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to conduct patient assessments and support diagnostic evaluations related to nutrition and physiology.
- Implement food safety protocols, including proper handling of tube feeding supplies and managing special dietary requirements such as therapeutic diets.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food service management within assisted living or healthcare environments.
- Strong background in clinical nutrition, dietetics, or dietetic technology with relevant certifications as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM).
- Knowledge of health regulation policies related to food safety management and compliance with local health codes.
- Experience supervising dietary departments with demonstrated leadership skills in managing teams effectively.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records related to patient care and nutrition documentation.
- Understanding of physiology as it pertains to nutrition needs in acute care or long-term care settings.
- Ability to perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and adapt menus for tube feeding or specialized diets.
- Excellent organizational skills with proficiency in budgeting, inventory control, and food production processes.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with healthcare teams and educate residents or patients about nutritional practices.
