JOB TITLE: Student Services Advisor
REPORTS TO: National Director of Career & Student Services
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) is seeking a Student Services Advisor to work in the Office of Student Affairs and provide top-notch service to its students. ICE is one of America’s leading centers for culinary education and the largest culinary school in New York City and Los Angeles. We are passionate about helping students of all ages and backgrounds pursue their culinary career dreams. We’re looking for a Student Advisor who is passionate about the world of food and is excited to contribute to our growing organization.
Success in this role requires a calling to assist others. At ICE our Student Advisors is charged with helping at-risk students successfully complete their program of enrollment despite the challenges that arise along the way.
The Student Advisor is a key member of our Student Affairs team and reports directly to our Associate Dean of Students. We support and reward creativity, performance, professional development and team involvement. We also have fun, and eat well, in the process!
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor student progress and identify at-risk students.

Provide academic counseling and student service support.

Provide coaching and assistance with organizational skills, time management, completion of assignments, use of technology and the Learning Resource System.

Collaborate with administrators, deans and faculty to facilitate and improve student success and retention.

Administer Satisfactory Academic Progress compliance via academic standing evaluations.

Communicate on a regular basis with students to provide support services.

Organize and provide tutoring services.

Work closely with Campus administration; keeping abreast of at-risk student performance with the goal of increasing the School’s completion rates.

Assist in the planning and execution of extra-curricular activities such as Constitution Day, Drug and Alcohol Awareness Day.

Develop and disseminate information on available student services.

Perform general administrative support, as needed, for the Student Affairs and Education department.

Facilitate remediations, skills workshop, and make-up exams.

Process and maintain the security, integrity and administration of all official student records.

Provide program orientations.

Support students through the ADA Process – American Disabilities Act.

Adhere to FERPA, state and federal, and VA regulations.

Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s Degree in Education preferred.

Minimum of one (1) year of related work experience in education.

Proficient in the Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, Powerpoint, Word and Excel.

Familiarity with SIS technology is a plus.

Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; strong presentation skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.

Have strong follow-up and time management skills.

Ability to work independently and within a team.

Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other departments and teams.

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required.

Must have the ability to work some evenings and weekends.

A familiarity with and appreciation for the Institute of Culinary Education and its programs.

The position is full-time and requires flexibility to work evening and weekend shifts,
according to department rotation, which is set in advance.
